Niveau B2 about nominaler and verbaler Stil

In German there are a lot of verbs that have their corresponding nouns, for example: versuchen – der Versuch, ansteigen – der Anstieg.

If you want to form a sentence you can either use the verbal form (verbaler Stil) by using a verb or the nominal form (nominaler Stil) by using the noun.

Example:

These two sentences have the same meaning but use the two different forms:

  • (nominaler Stil) Mein Versuch, das Auto zu reparieren.
  • (verbaler Stil) Ich versuche, das Auto zu reparieren.
